“You are not enough”.

“You will never make it.

“You are too fat!”

We have all had negative voices in our heads……

If you listen to those voices they can be crippling and will rob you of your power, freedom, and dreams.

You are not the voices in your head.

You are not your thoughts.

Just because your mind tells you something doesn’t mean it’s true.

Your inner critic is that part of you that talks negatively to you.

To be free you must learn to develop a relationship with your inner critic.

The voice of the inner critic often pops up at the exact moment when you are about to begin writing that book, go to the gym, or start something new.

This resistance is a protective mechanism.

Rather than beating yourself up or fighting your inner critic, recognize that it often has a positive intention, and is trying to get something for you that’s good. But the way it is going about it isn’t working or effective.

So here are some simple keys to deal with your inner critic:

1) Awareness – Become aware that just because the voice of the inner critic is telling you something doesn’t mean it’s true. It’s not simply your thoughts that are important but the power and importance you give them. As you begin to observe your thoughts and witness them, they begin to lose their power over you.

 2) Question – As you observe your inner critic, you can then begin to question those voices. You will realize that your inner critic often plays old tapes, some of which are not even your voice but belong to your parents. So ask yourself “Is this fact or fiction?” “Whose voice is this really?” Question your mind.

 3) Choose – Choosing to bring compassion to your inner critic rather than judgment is key. As you do this it becomes easier for you choose the actions you want to take rather than being run by the limitations of the inner critic. You do not have to be run by it. When the negative self talk starts simply turn to it compassionately and say “Thank you, I appreciate your input and I am not listening to you right now.” Each time you take an action towards what you do want you reclaim your power and strengthen your capacity to manifest your intention.

Choose to meet your inner critic with love, and you shift your relationship with it.

Compassion is the greatest medicine.
